Sach is the magic :)

24th April 1973...a star was born. A star who wud with time, go on to reach great heights n scale new peaks, who wud go on to set new standards for excellence. The best thing that I like abt Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar (SRT) is that he is a great personality on field n a greater human being off it. In a cricket crazy country as ours, where cricket is a religion n hero worship the norm, it is a tribute to the values ingrained in him by his family which has seen him remain equanimous inspite of the all the media generated hype n frenzy n the onslaught of his critics. His other illustrious contemporaries viz: Brian Charles Lara n Shane Keith Warne have succumbed time n again to the heady feeling that superstardom brings in its wake (read as scandals n controversies).

Another trademark quality of Sachin, which is unique of all champions irrespective of the sport they indulge in is, remarkable focus n mental strength. This is one aspect of Sachin which has been questioned often in the recent past. I have felt this time n again, that Sachin is searching for an answer to something or maybe he is taking time to arrive at a decision abt himself and as long as the answer eludes him, he will remain an accumulator of runs rather than the plunderer that we all know him to be.Not that his run accumulation role is less liked (it is one more facet of the champions's personality), just that, all his fans including myself wud love to see him bat with the carefree spirit of yore.

So here's wishing the "little champion" a memorable birthday. Hope he continues playing for some years more n most of all, may he continue enjoying what he does best.

The following lines ring true for SRT:

Jab bhi mehfilo mein afsane bayan honge,
Fizaein tum ko puchengi, na jaane tum kahan honge.
