Decode the pincodes !!!

Can we have a pincode beginning with 9? for eg: 986120. Yes.....ummm no!!! What the heck ? Ok ever wondered how the pincodes were assigned for different locations: well I guess I have something:

The digits in a pincode from left to right progressively point to the geographical position of the post offices. The country has been divided into 8 different zones and the respective zones have pincodes starting with the following number:

Number:Zones

1:Jammu Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Chandigarh, Punjab n Haryana
2:UP n Uttaranchal
3:Rajasthan, Gujarat, Daman n Diu
4:MP, Maharashtra, Goa, Chattisgarh
5:Karnataka, AP
6:Kerala, TN, Lakshadweep
7:WestBengal, Orissa n the north east
8:Bihar n Jharkhand

The first 3 digits indicate the sorting under which the office falls and the last 3 specify the particular post office under the sorting office.

for eg:
- A shop at Bakery junction, Trivandrum wud have the pincode :695001
- Pantaloons Ahmedabad, Netaji road,Law garden :380 003
- Vikas Bhandari(Ar): ShivajiNagar,Chanakyapuri,FC Road Pune :411004
