The Barmy Swing !

It seems the visiting england team have a new weapon in their collective armoury to trouble the strongest batting line up in the world.(atleast on paper, considering the fact that its long since the top order fired, specially the twins).

Fast bowling has always seen 2 types of swing n now we have the 3rd type.

CONVENTIONAL Swing: The ball is released with the seam angled towards first slip or fine leg, spinning backwards along the seam and with the polished side facing the batsman. The ball will swing in same direction as the seam is pointing.

REVERSE Swing: Same release, except with the rough side facing the batsman. The ball swings in the opposite direction to that of the seam.

CONTRAST swing: Controlled by speed. With the seam positioned vertically , the ball swings towards the rough side at lower speeds and towards the smooth side at higher speeds.

No wonder Hogard n Flintoff's bowling was a discomfort to many a Indian batsmen in the recently concluded tests n the barmy army(term given to english supporters) was lapping up every bit of their stars' successes.Wonder what the Indian think-tank is upto? Guess, Ramki(full time computer analyst for the Indian team) must be having his hands full already.
