I'm reading now :

The " Tipping Point:How lille things can make a big DIFFERENCE " and "Blink: The power of thinking without thinking" - by Malcolm Gladwell.

Gladwell was a England born Canadian raised writer who has been a staff writer for the New Yorker since 1996.

We 've always seen a stage when the weights are same on both the scales and then a small infinetisimal change happens as a result of which the scales tip on one side. Tipping Point refers to this exact pheneomenon which operates widely in this world in various forms but which goes unnoticed most of the times 'cuz of the myriad forms it takes...and the forms can be as diverse as fashion to public opinion to our beliefs. The book basically explains about why changes happen so fast n so unexpectedly ?!

Talking of tipping point reminded me about an article that I chanced upon the TOI some days back which talked about the AGE OF CONSCIOUSNESS and the writer was prophesying abt how she foresaw an age of consciousness which wud be soon dawning on mankind n the answer that she gave , very well walked the same path as Malcolm Gladwell's theory. She said that going by ppl's reaction n the way ppl all over the globe were accepting n taking to a living of increased awareness , she is sure that soon that critical balance wud be reached where it(an increased-awareness way of livin') wud soon become an accepted way of living ..it wud become an unconscious action or what psychologists call as a second nature. That shud surely bring a big smile on all the optimists's faces !!

Anyway....the second book: Blink talks about the way how we humans unconsciously size up a person or event in the first encounter and this happens pretty fast mind u, and how we cant seem to put a finger exactly on the reason about why we feel so strongly for/against the event or person. The reason for our inability to pin-point being the absence of the conscious part of our pschye in gathering the data about the event. The book is interspersed with many real life tests and studies which go on to validate the author's claim. Surely made an interesting read for me !!
